Review by BooYork Staff:
While New York City is home to some of the world’s strangest and most exciting Halloween parties, Webster Hall’s annual Halloween party—dubbed “Webster Hell”—is easily the best. Tickets are available to the general public, but it usually draws a heavy crowd from the Village Halloween Parade, and likewise, houses the city’s wildest mob of outrageously costumed revelers.
The folks at Webster Hall leave no detail untouched in turning the massive, four-story club into a towering mausoleum of terror and debauchery. Each floor is packed with costumed partygoers getting their groove on to an endless wave of throbbing dance music. Meanwhile, fierce fire-eating stunts and tantalizing dance performances happen on and offstage throughout the night—including the horrifying “virgin sacrifice” at midnight.
They also award prizes for the scariest, sexiest, and best costume each year. While the competition is steep, the $8000 first-place prize is well worth it.
This party requires an age suitability of 21 an up.

The annual Halloween celebration has become a New York institution, providing Halloween entertainment for a myriad of costume-clad New Yorkers. The evening's entertainment begins with a screening of a classic horror film. In 2004, they showed the 1920 silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and in 2005, they showed the 1928 version of The Phantom of the Opera starring Lon Chaney. A Cathedral Organist provides an eerie soundtrack for this haunting classic film. This is the perfect atmosphere for seeing this film, but make sure you arrive early enough to sit close to the front -- the storyline is often conveyed through hand-written notes contained in the film which are difficult to read from a great distance. The Cathedral truly embodies the spirit of Halloween, with dim lighting and a ghostly feeling created by the organ music.
