Review By BooYork Staff: Surprises are fast and frequent at the Blood Manor haunted house. Once you step foot in its blood-spattered halls, your survival is up to you. Be prepared to be scared over and over again by a bloody slaughter, the Dark Knight’s “Joker,” and much more. We rank this one as extremely scary because of the actors’ very realistic, very bloody costumes and the brilliant—but quite creepy—design and ambience of each room. This realistic and top-rated haunted house is sure to get your screams out. Blood Manor has a new location this year: 163 Varick Street, Manhattan. Not recommended for anyone under 14 years of age.

Review By BooYork Staff: Vampires and things that go bump in the night, are usually the attractions that Halloween is known for. But what scares us most are the real occurances of simply unexplainable sights. The Merhant House Manor museum sets the stage for the unexplained and awakens the ghosts within. The character of the house brings you back to the time in which it was built and the keepers do a great job of keeping you on your toes. So if you' re looking for a good scare you have come to the right place. Museum by day, Ghost manor by night, The Merchant house is a home to the supernatural.

Review By BooYork Staff: Don’t expect this fairy tale to have a happy ending. Do, however, marvel at this beautifully designed haunted house’s rather cool entranceway as you follow Hansel and Gretel into a magical fairy tale forest. Experience the delightful tales of your childhood—Snow White, Pinocchio, and the Dancing Red Shoes—recast in a haunting new light. Get your screams out as wolves and other frightening beasts chase you from cottage to terrifying cottage. And be prepared for the hair-raising finale—a gruesome “medical experiment” in a secret attic laboratory. Because of its high-intensity thrills, no one under 10 is permitted in this haunted house. Anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Review By BooYork Staff: Experience the Wizard of Oz re-imagined in a gigantic, spooky corn maze. All of your favorite characters are there, and much creepier than remembered as you try to find your way through. But be careful—it’s easy to get lost in this one. Even if you’re not a Wizard of Oz fan, the well-acted scenes and spooky interpretations of the films iconic characters make this fright fest unforgettable. Wizard of Gore is located on Veterans Road W, Staten Island. The evening program is not recommended for anyone under 12 years of age.

Review by Booyork staff – Not particularly as scary and frightening as common haunted houses, but not less interesting! Creep into the crypts of this Cathedral and learn all about the origin of Halloween. Take note that this is a one time occurrence, and does not run on multiple days. Great atmosphere and very interesting to listen to, it’s a must for you Halloween lovers! Don’t be scared by the fact that its in a Cathedral!

Review By The BooYork Staff - This Bronx warehouse isn’t so much haunted as infected—with a strange virus that’s turned everyone on site into flesh-craving zombies! This survival mission puts you in the middle of a live-action zombie thriller. Your objective is simple: to make it out alive. But with frequent surprise zombie attacks and quick scares around every corner, it's certainly not an easy one—nor one for the faint of heart. Our "zombie hunter" guide perhaps described the experience best: "Don't let your guard down or ZOMBIES WILL EAT YOUR FACE !"
